When Naya Dorkins was in second grade, her favorite book was The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister.
As an elementary school student, she was an academic all-star, and as a high school student, she was an all-star in basketball.
Now, the 29-year-old is the head basketball coach at Innovation Montessori Ocoee, a K-12 school in Orlando, Fla., the Orlando Sentinel reports.
"She was my favorite teacher because I knew and felt that she genuinely loved her students," Dorkins says of her second-grade teacher.
"I reached one of those goals and hope to train a bunch of players who make it to the WNBA or NBA," Dorkins tells the Observer.
"To sum it up, basketball consumes my free time, and I wouldn't have it any other way."
She owns a basketball academy and spends most of her free time "running my business, coaching basketball, training basketball players, watching basketball, studying basketball," she says.
"I love Christmas for the reason why we even celebrate the day, spending time with my family, and I get to watch basketball all day long with my loved ones."
