"We can be proud of Lithuania's innovators and the Vedliai (Guides) initiative."
That's how Economy and Innovation Ausrine Armonaite described Wednesday's signing of a letter of intent between Lithuania's Innovation Agency and Taiwan's Minister of Digital Affairs Audrey Tang to collaborate on digital literacy education, financial technology, and innovation in the public sector, among other things.
Armonaite said Taiwan's 250,000-dollar investment will go to a company called Lithuanian EdTech, which helps teachers teach children how to use technology in their education, Business Insider reports.
"We sincerely believe that only when a democratic society empowers younger people, even younger people than 18, to participate fully in the democratic process, to be a civic journalist working with professional journalism, we can create conditions so they can truly become the citizens of the global internet," Tang said at a press conference.
