If you live in a small town, there's a good chance you have an entrepreneurial spiritand if you don't, you could be losing out on a lot of money and jobs.
That's according to NewbyOne, which argues that small communities can have a "transformative impact" by fostering a culture of innovation.
"By fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship, small communities will become more resilient, competitive, and dynamic, thus driving sustainable economic growth," the site says.
Examples of small-town innovation include the town of Greensburg, Kansas, which went green after a tornado in 2007, and Erie, Pennsylvania, which has seen new industries such as robotics created by entrepreneurs.
"If your community doesn't have an innovative spirit or entrepreneurial mindset today, start changing that," NewbyOne says.
"As economic conditions become more challenging, it will be those that process these two ingredients that will prosper."
