It's that time of year again: time for you to start thinking about opening your very own school.
And if you've been holding your breath, you're not alone.
The Wall Street Journal reports the number of charter schools in the US has nearly doubled in the past five years, and they're expected to triple by 2024.
The reason? More and more parents are looking for options when it comes to their children's education, and more and more states are passing education choice laws to make it easier for parents to choose from a variety of education options.
"It's a great time to start a school," one education expert tells the Journal.
"It's a lot easier to raise money to start a school than it is to raise money to run a school."
The average annual cost of a new school opening in the US is about $35,000, according to the Journal, and the average annual cost of a new school in the past five years was $58,000.
But there are plenty of reasons to open a school, according to the Journal's list of 10 tips from school founders.
