Apple's new mixed-reality headset is now on sale, and Boston Children's Hospital is among the first to try it out.
The tech giant has partnered with the hospital to create an app for the Apple Vision Pro that uses the headset's "spatial computing" feature to create realistic, life-like simulations of medical equipment, reports Becker's Hospital Review.
"Healthcare workers, especially nurses, are facing critical issues of burnout and fatigue," says a hospital statement.
"To alleviate some of these workforce challenges, Boston Children's came together with Apple to develop a comprehensive learning experience for healthcare professionals in a safe, universally accessible virtual environment."
The app, called CyranoHealth, will allow healthcare providers to try out new medical devices before they're actually used in real life.
The Apple Vision Pro, which sells for $3,499, has long been rumored to be used for medical purposes, including aiding surgeons during procedures.
