The White House wants to make it easier for working parents to find affordable child care, and it's putting its money where its mouth is.
The White House announced today that it's teaming up with the US Chamber of Commerce and the Chamber of Commerce Foundation to host a National Child Care Innovation Summit this summer, the New York Times reports.
Last year, President Obama issued an executive order calling for federal agencies to come up with ways to encourage more businesses to offer child care to workers.
The virtual summit today featured governors, advocates, and business leaders from around the country, the White House said in a statement.
The announcement is "a compelling example of the far-reaching implications that child care challenges have on our families, our children, and our economy," the Chamber of Commerce's executive director said in a statement.
"More importantly, it showcases the need for a wide range of approaches, particularly those spearheaded by employers, federal agencies, and governors."
