Online safety is a global problem, and regulators from around the world are coming together to try to do something about it.
The Global Online Safety Regulators Network, made up of national online safety regulators from around the world, has released a position statement calling for global regulation of online safety, CNET reports.
"We're also grappling with how to apply novel, frequently untested regulatory tools to a rapidly evolving sector," says Australia's eSafety Commissioner Julie Inman Grant, who co-founded the network 18 months ago.
"It requires like-minded, like-principled regulators come together to share insights, experience, and best practice."
The group says it wants to work toward "coherence in partnership to deliver coherent regulation across borders for all benefit all economies, including those of all platforms," according to a press release.
