The UN Population Fund is looking for young Somali women to help end female genital mutilation and force marriage in their country, the New York Times reports.
The EmpowerHer Innovation Challenge is looking for women between the ages of 18 and 30 who have an innovative idea for ending harmful practices such as FGM and CFM.
"This is an investment into you, the bright leader with the best ideas on ending harmful practices such Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and Child, Early, Force Marriage (CEFM)," UNFPA says in a press release.
Candidates need to submit an application by June 2, 2024, and pitch their idea to a panel of judges on June 18, 2024.
The winners will get between $2,000 and $6,000 to work with three social enterprises in Somalia.
