Papermill Creek Children’s Corner preschool in Point Reyes Station, Calif., has been awarded a two-year, $100,000 grant to support early care and education services for families living in rural Marin.
The preschool, which serves 25 students ages 2 through 5, was one of 80 entities awarded grants from the Marin Community Foundation’s “community power initiative,” the Marin Independent Journal reports.
“Equitable wages for early childhood education teachers, and access to high-quality early care and education for children and their families, are the highest form of equity,” says the preschool’s executive director.
“That’s particularly true in rural West Marin, where challenges and disparities magnify.”
