It's that time of year again: time for Amazon's annual list of the best children's books of the year.
This year's top 10: Bedtime for Bo by Kjersti Annesdatter, translated by Kari Dickson Goodnight books are a category in and of their own, and Annesdatter's Bedtime for Bo tops Sarah Shun- Dickson's review in the New York Times: "I like the idea that I can say to a kid, do you want to hear a story? It's only one sentence long."
Farmhouse by Sophie Blackall: "It was her hope to'make the experience of reading this book feel as close as possible to the experience of being in the farmhouse,'" says Blackall, who bought a 21-acre abandoned dairy farm in New York's Catskills and turned it into Milkwood, a pastoral retreat for children's book writers and illustrators.
