The UN's children's agency is teaming up with the World Economic Forum to encourage more young people to come up with solutions to the world's mental-health problems.
The Uplink Youth Mental Health Challenge was launched Wednesday at the WEF's annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland, with the goal of promoting "human-centered design of solutions by youth, for youth to reach every child," per a press release from UNICEF.
The challenges will focus on four key areas: mental-health awareness, youth mental-health prevention, youth mental-health treatment, and youth mental-health resilience.
"The rising scourge of youth mental health problems as well as the increasing pace of innovation offers prime opportunity to evolve cutting-edge solutions," says UNICEF's Innovation Manager.
Among the solutions being considered: a mobile app that connects youth with mental-health services in places where they're hard to reach, and an app that uses machine-learning technology to identify messages that are toxic.
