The annual Las Madrinas Ball is a fundraiser for Children's Hospital Los Angeles, but this year's event was more about honoring the women who've made a difference in the hospital's mission of advancing equity, quality, and innovation in pediatric health care, the Pasadena Outlook reports.
The Debutantes of 2022 were among 34 young women who were honored for their dedication to the Southern California community and to Children's Hospital Los Angeles at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
Among them were Bridget Holt Belle Baier, daughter of Scott Baier and Brooke Baier, and Jacqueline Margaret Sabbag, daughter of Robert Sabbag and Kathleen Sabbag.
The younger Baier is a neonatal intensive care unit resident at the hospital, while Sabbag works in the hospital's child abuse program.
The Debutantes were chosen by a panel of medical professionals and Las Madrinas board members.
"These young women are changing the face of pediatric health care in Southern California," says Elizabeth Williams Shoemaker, president of Las Madrinas.
"They are setting the example for the next generation of leaders."
The Ball is the culmination of a year of service to others.
