"Baby stuff is always innovating and changing at a miraculous rate," one mom tells WPVI.
"So, they're always coming out with new and better."
That new and better comes in the form of "load legs," which give car seats extra support by extending a leg from the base of the seat to the floor of the car.
Consumer Reports tested a number of seats and found that when using infant-sized dummies, load legs reduced the risk of head injuries by 46%.
"We found that when using infant-sized dummies that there was an average 46% reduction in head injury risk for seats that have a load leg versus those that don't have a load leg," says Consumer Reports' Emily Thomas.
The magazine also tested seats with both load legs and lower anchors.
The Evenflo LiteMax DLX, which costs $170, scored "best" for crash protection.
