Kids in British Columbia are getting a boost from the federal government in the form of funding for after-school programs, reports the CBC.
The Vancouver Sun reports that the Canadian government is providing more than $1 million through its Early Learning and Child Care Innovation Program to support programs that help kids as young as three years old get a head start on kindergarten.
The money will be used to expand after-school programs for at-risk kids in low-income areas, as well as to expand after-school programs for at-risk kids in high-income areas.
The announcement was made in Vancouver on Tuesday.
