A Canadian doctor has been found guilty of two counts of possessing and transmitting child pornography, the Edmonton Journal reports.
Dr. Hassan Al-Naami, an Edmonton pediatrician, was found guilty Monday following a lengthy trial.
According to the CBC, the case against Al-Naami began when the Royal Canadian Mounted Police's National Child Exploitation Crime Center tracked a user to Al-Naami's IP address, downloaded a video of what appeared to be a prepubescent girl being sexually abused, and transferred the video to Al-Naami's computer.
Police also found sexually explicit Skype chat logs in which a user associated with Al-Naami told another user he was watching a video of someone having sex with minors.
Al-Naami was arrested at the airport on Aug.
11, 2019, while returning from a trip to England with his wife and children.
Police also seized a number of devices from Al-Naami's home while the family was on vacation.
Al-Naami was found guilty of both counts following a lengthy trial.
He faces up to life in prison.
